Making an appointment - NHS Patients
Wherever you live in the UK you are entitled to choose the Bristol Vasectomy Clinic (Avon Vasectomy Service) for your NHS funded vasectomy. Obviously because of our location, we see most patients from Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset.
NHS patients will need to see their GP for vasectomy referral. You will then receive a ‘Choose and Book’ letter informing you how to arrange your appointment. The Avon Vasectomy Service does not offer direct on-line appointment availability because we feel it is important for you to first read the information leaflet before booking for your attendance at the clinic.
When you contact the Choose and Book Office you will be informed that there are other NHS vasectomy providers. We can assure you that the surgeons working at the Avon Vasectomy service have had considerably more experience than any other local NHS providers and we are confident that the standard of care we offer remains unsurpassed.
We can therefore recommend your choice of the Avon Vasectomy Service as your provider. You will be offered the choice of having your vasectomy performed at St George Health Centre, Bristol (Dr Boone, Dr Pocock and Dr Atherton), Fallodon Way, Henleaze (Dr Stainer) or Worle, Weston-Super-Mare (Dr Stainer).
Clinics are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
You can choose between:
A one stop service with the counselling session immediately prior to your appointment - the most popular option, or
A two-stop service with a prior counselling session followed by a ‘cooling-off period’ before having the vasectomy appointment. – We strongly recommend this option for younger patients (<25 years).
